Arbitrarily referring to any contrary statement as a "claim" or "news" in order to downplay presented arguments/evidence and reduce the debate to a mere issue of "sources" and "credibility".
General form:
"Someone stated A, therefore A is a claim, therefore there's no evidence in support of A."
Typical example:
"According to the following data, aliens exist and may have visited our planet: (...)"
"Your claim goes against the position of actual experts in the field, therefore is fake news."
Statements are not all "claims". A claim is a statement that's presented as a matter of fact without any way to directly confirm or refute it. An hypothesis is not a claim; a rational deduction is not a claim; an empirical evidence is not a claim; a theory is not a claim. As such, they should not be dealt the same way.
